 Capabilities
STRUCTURED CABLING INSTALLATION

What is a "Structured Cabling System"?

A “structured cabling system” provides the critical foundation for your information technology systems and, therefore, your business. By designing and installing a standards-based teledata infrastructure system, you can reduce maintenance time, minimize downtime, and save your company money. When implemented properly, a structured cabling system efficiently carries information to and from every corner of your organization. It connects employees to each other, to information, and to customers. It increases productivity, saves money, and allows you to take advantage of new technologies.
STE has a Registered Communications Distribution Designer (RCDD) on staff who can provide professional structured cabling system designs. Each design is developed to EIA/TIA and BICSI standards to ensure a proper and professional installation. All STE installations are tested, documented and labeled upon completion.

MOVES, ADDS, CHANGES

Moves, Adds, and Changes

STE is the dedicated contractor for some of the largest employers in East Tennessee. Our clients rely on their telephone and data networks to keep their businesses running, and they rely on STE to maintain and service these networks. When downtime can be measured in millions of dollars per minute, there is no room for error.

STE performs moves, adds, and changes at the convenience of our clients. Consideration is given to minimize disruptions and perform these services in the most efficient manner. All cables and jacks are labeled according to the client's specifications. In many cases, customers have asked STE to investigate, assess, and inventory their existing cable infrastructure so that it can be effectively managed and maintained.
We welcome the opportunity to meet with you to discuss your unique needs.

DESIGN AND ENGINEERING

Design/Engineering
With our BICSI accredited RCDD (Registered Communication Distribution Designer) and LAN Specialist, STE has the knowledge and expertise to design and engineer the most complex of systems. Our engineers review all designs for standards compliance to insure a complete, functional system for years to come.

STE's in-house CAD department compliments our engineering efforts with complete documentation of all aspects on the installation.

Independent Third Party Testing

STE can inventory and test your existing wiring - often finding small issues that may cause expensive problems for your business in the future. Knowing the capabilities and limitations of your network will help you make decisions on the functionality of your existing premise wiring. We can also identify what needs to be done to bring your network up to current standards.

INFRASTRUCTURE AUDITS

Also, ask us about our customized Infrastructure Assessments to give you the documentation necessary for a baseline understanding of your network’s capability.

STE believes in “structured cabling”, which is a standards-based method of designing and installing an integrated voice and data cabling system for your business. “Standards” ensure that manufactured products meet certain quality, safety, and performance criteria for that category and class of product. Today the Category 5E standard is accepted as the minimum requirement for data applications, and the new Category 6 standard is recommended for new installations. We can help you determine which solution is best for you.

Also ask us about our customized Infrastructure Assessments to give you the documentation necessary for a baseline understanding of your network’s capability.

TOP 5 CABLING MISTAKES

1. Not installing enough jacks per location

2. Installing separate data and voice cabling

3. Omitting jacks in areas where you don't think they'll be needed, but later will be

4. Not using plenum-rated cable

5. Not planning computer room location for cable distance requirements.

Research has shown that up to 50% of all network problems are related to network cabling, but only 2% of network investments are allocated for data cabling. A cabling system should be a long-term investment, so be sure that it is properly designed to avoid future network problems.

Smart buildings
What makes a building "smart"? It's the communications infrastructure, designed from the ground up to allow full voice, data, and Internet access to all tenants of the building from the moment they move in. Now that's smart.
